Upper Ball Joint Rebuild - 1984
Somewhere in the front end of my car there is an occasional creak or pop when slowly turning on to a side street and driving over a slight dip. I can not seem to reliably duplicate the noise and when on jack stands I can find no play or movement in any component or wheel bearing. I realize that after jacking a 928 it takes some driving time for the suspension to settle but my tire wear has been fine and there are no problems noted at any highway speed. Perhaps it is just a type of arthritis that inevitably surfaces on a 25 year old car ?
By the way - Has anyone tried one of the 928 upper ball joint rebuild kits. They include all new circle clips, end cap, tensioning springs, outer boots, hardened steel center pins/nuts, inner nylon socket components, etc… for both sides while re-using the “A” arms. They also provide a permanent grease fitting. The comments I have seen so far on the internet indicate very satisfied customers. The price for the kits are in the $160 range plus shipping. What do you think ? Thanks, Michael |

As far as I know all are from the same source, just different vendors. I think the 944 guys have been using them for some time, but I have no personal experience with them.
