HERE IT IS....WHEN I TURN ON MY PARKING LIGHTS OR ALL LIGHTS ALL BULBS FUNCTION FINE. BUT WHEN I USE THE BRAKES THE ENTIRE 4 BULBS IN THE ASSEMBLY FAINTLY LIGHT UP INCLUDING THE BRAKE LIGHT. EVEN THE REVERSE LIGHT! THEN WHEN I USE PASSENGER SIDE TURN SIGNAL THE BRAKE LIGHT AND SIDE MARKER FLASH! I REPLACED THE BULB CONTROL UNIT WITH NO EFFECT. THIS JUST RECENTLY BEGAN, AND LEAVES ME SCRATCHING MY HEAD! INSTRUMENT PANEL DOES INDICATE "STOP LIGHT" FAILURE. ANYONE HAVE THE ANSWER?? THANX! J:confused:

you have a ground problem the ground connection is behind the Right rear quarter panel .
Remove the rear screws and the cargo hold down bracket, so you can bend the liner just enough to get a 10mm wrench onto the screw thats holding all of the brown ground wires to the floor, my guess is you have either a leaky hatch seal or a leaking spoiler this lets water into the floor and then the wires get corroded. Also inspect all of the bulbs in the rear lights they should all match left side to right side some of the bulbs are 21 W and others are 10W make sure that both sides are the same bulb. Also inspect the rear side markers, if one of these fails it can also cause problems |
Thanx MrMerlin!! you sent me in the right direction! I shouldve thought of that..after all these years of dealing with loose or corroded connections! Well the ground was loose..but the main culprit was a bad pin connection..i cleaned everything up and tightened the white pin connector. Everything works fine now. Thanks so much! James
