So, what do i have here? Doing the R&R on the inlet manifold etc, found the 6 pin flat connector to the MAF has a number of wires spliced into it that go to another 6 pin ( 2x3 rows) connector, that goes nowhere!
Engine is a M28.22, all manifold parts, heads, etc are Euro part numbered - so what gives - was this a part of federalizing it?

Part of the federalizing is my guess, could be interesting to ID what the pins are, what signals etc.

How is the connection made electrically, are the wires intact from MAF to brain, or do they loop through this connector?

Mike,

I'l probably pull apart the harness and see, the color codes in both connectors are consistent with porsche - primary color and stripe - etc, not just a hack!

I need to do a carfax on it, I have a full CA clear title in my name, the PO ( German auto electrical repair shop here in San Diego acquired it thorugh a mechanics lien ) told me he thought it was owned by someone at MCAS Miramar - who just gave up on it. It has been repainted, a lot of parts under the hood look to be replaced ( including a new MAF and several injectors) so i will continue to probe!

Have you checked the vin at the calif dmv smog history page?

Vehicle Test History

Checking continuity between MAF and Brain on all relevant pins should be enough.

MAF to Brain is good, Iv'e checked it out. The MAF looks new and they replaced it to try and fix the lean condition.

Checked CA DMV before i bought it - first recorded test was 1997 - then last passed in 2005, failed pretest in 2008 - been Non-Op since.
