Brake Pad warning light will stay lit
Hi, I got a 1982 928 USA 5 speed that has a problem that the brake pad warning light will not go out. I have checked the sensors, they are all in tact. I checked them with a multimeter they are good. I checked the wires to make sure the suspesion hasn't broken connection. All looks good. Where can i find the wires inside by the fusebox?? Thanks in abvance. I love this forum , Happy New Year ALL,....Regards, Erwin

you should do more investigation one of the sensors is probably broken .
To test disconnect the sensor and bridge the connector do one wheel at a time, I suggest to start in the back as these sensors see a lot less service. the sensor string is one long loop one break will trigger the light

check the WSM. The wiring diagram shows which connectors at the CE panel goes to which sensor. On my 79, I think it was Q for one front, and U for both rears. If you get continuity at both of those, then check the other front to ground.
One front sensor only has one connection into the CE panel, so you can check it to ground. The other front has both wires back to the CE panel. And the rears have a wire from CE to pas sensor, wire across to driver sensor, wire back to CE panel. I have a recent post on RL where I found my problem this way.

Central Warning Unit -
Hey erwin928, I have found that it helps to sort out a warning light issue if you begin by making sure that your Central Warning Unit is working properly. Since you are chasing down a brake pad warning light - first jumper Pin 19 and 20 of the SW output plug on the CWU. This will simulate a complete external brake pad sensing loop and the brake pad warning light should be out. The CWU is located under the small boxed panel beside the driver’s left foot.
Once the correct operation of the CWU has been verified - it is a simple matter to determine which of the individual brake pad circuits is bad. You will probably find that as various brands of brake pads were installed over the years, one or more of the connections that make up the series loop (out of and then back into the CWU) has been poorly connected, jumpered, spliced or twisted together.
