86 928 cranks,turns over but no start
I have a 1986 928 and I went away for 2 weeks and when I came back my car would start. everything was fine before I left but when I came back and went to start it it spuddered a couple of times and stopped so I tried again and it did the same thing. So I waited a lil thinking i had flooded the engine and it was just turning over and thats it. so I came back the next day and alls it would do this time is turn over. So I went ahead removed the spark plugs and u could smell fuel on them. so i checked the spark plugs and had them tested, they give spark. and I checked the fuel pump and thats working fine. the cam is turning and the ignition system gives off spark too so Im out of ideas. Any clues??? thank you

Make sure the battery is fully charger. Mine cranked over a bit slow and didn't start one day. I hooked up the cables and tried for about an hour. finally gave up and left the charger on. the next day it fired right up.

On the Bat...check if it is holding a charge...
what is the voltage after charging and then the next morning? If older than 3-4 uears may be in need of a replacement. Jon

ya the battery is fine it's holding a charge. I actually went and it started right up yesterday, but when I came out this morning to go to work and start it it wouldn't start again. maybe it's the fuel relay???

that would be my guess. Remove it, clean the contacts with a scotchbrite, disconnect your battery, and spray some electronic parts cleaner into the pin holes for that relay. plug in, remove, plug in, remove the relay a few times to scrape any corrosion free that can't be seen inside those plugs on the fuse panel, leaving the relay in place.
Wait an hour or so before hooking back up your battery. ![]() Mark

You can test your relay while it's out...IIRC ground pin 85 and touch 12v at pin 86, does it click. Also, start relay can be checked.
Have you examined your T14 (14 pin connector) at pin 14? It has the 50 (large gage yellow starter) wire. The insulation can degrade and cause a no start. Jon
