Vinyl sport seat covers-Will they work?
I have an 82 Euro S that needs new sport seat covers. This cover on ebay looks exactly like it. Any one tried these? It looks like the price is for a pair.

There are a few questions to ask the seller:
1-Does the kit have the cutouts for the backrest release cut or do you cut them out? This is due to the difference between the 928 round release and the rectangle 944. 2-Does the kit have the cutouts for the power switches in the seat side panel or do you cut them yourself? This is due to the fact there are several different sizes and placement for the switches between 928 and 944 cars. 3-Can you buy 1 yard of extra matching fabric to cover the gear drive on the outside of the 928 power seat as this will not fit inside 944 covers but is a simple glue and tuck operation. I have replaced old 928 foam with 944 foam on seats and recovered with 944 kits. They look great and are much cheaper than the $1000 quotes I received locally. I have several seats to use foam out of - just let me know if you need some help. The seat cover sets in question look really good and are priced lower than another supplier I use - He is $400 for a set of Brown covers for my 84 928

The sport seats that you have there are all the same for the 911, 944, and 928. If I'm not mistaken they were available from 81 to 84 on the 928. I have an 84 euro myself with the same seats. They are not power, and don't have the round button release of the early 928 comfort seats. The covers that you found on ebay look pretty nice, I would go for it if you don't mind vinyl.

VINYL? You've GOT to be kidding!
-When I bought my '85 in 1999, it had vinyl seat covers on the front seats. The PO [*******!] had covered them with sheepskin seat covers. The result was ridiculous. I removed the sheep and tried driving on the vinyl; It didn't work! I drove exactly 1.2 miles to the grocery store this way, bought my fish for the grill, and drove 1.2 miles home. That night I spent a few hours researching new seat leather and installers in Orlando, where I lived at the time! Those seats were WAY ridiculous! Your skin stuck to them all the time, and they were HOT and sweaty in the summer, and COLD and sweaty in the winter. In short, "vinyl" is basically rubber. DON'T use this material for your seats!
