Rear seat removal
Hi Guys!
Is there a guide anywhere to removing the two rear bucket seats? Since I'm having them reupholstered I need to take them out.. Is there any tricks to it, or is it straightforward? /Niels ![]()

Hey Niels...I imagine all years are similar.
The rear seats in my '88 were simply attached by adhesive. They were easy to pull up and, after Rob Budd recovered them, I reinstalled them using 3M upholstery spray glue. They're still there and not likely to move as no one sits back there.

If your car is PRE rear air I think there is 2 or 3 bolts on the body side on the backs. Fold down will give you access. Then the middles just pull out. The later rear air cars require a court order and LOTS of time.

so is it glue if you don't have rear AC and bolts behind the seat if you do?
My 89 dose not have air and the seats would rather rip in half then come out, I tried and was waiting for a post like this to tell me how they came out

Pull harder. Pretty good glue under there.

On my '79, I just lift the dried ones up and out. The glue has degraded from heating over the years. When I reup them I'll put vlcro type stuff on the backside...

Mine does not have the rear AC, so it's just bolt, bolt and RIP like hell?
![]() I had sorta started to pull on those cushions, but just didn't have the guts to put in the muscle as I thought it would shred. Thanks for the advice!
