Are you trying to test the compressor itself or the compressor clutch? Did you remove the compressor because the system was not working?

Put 12 V to the wire going to the clutch and touch the ground to the compressor body, it should snap in.

You would need a functional AC system with a drive belt to test it, which is why I wouldn't bother installing a unit that wasn't either rebuilt or from a known working car, and the second option is iffy. Good rebuilts are around for as little as $200 shipped, why risk the time and freon with a maybe ok and for how long compressor?
OTOH if I were to do it again, instead of a good rebuilt I would switch to a Sanden scroll compressor (newer type rotary thing). |
