Ignition Switches Freezing Up

I have gone through 3 aftermarket ignition switches on my 1980 since last March. They seem to be freezing up mechanically so I can't turn them any longer. The first one lasted 3 months, the second 1 month and the third I replaced after about 1 month when it showed signs of failing. I finally bought two used switches from a junk yard to have as backups. I have now already installed one of them. The local guy (reseller) I bought the switch from and who covered the first two under warranty thought maybe something was pulling too much juice through the switch. The starter is showing signs of going out... sometimes cranking but not starting the car. Could the starter be the culprit? Is there any way to test anything?

sounds like you need to go through the whole elex system.
you should know the drill.
start at the back at the battery, and work to the front get a pencil eraser clean all of the contacts,
inspect the ground cable it may need to be replaced if the cable or floor area gets wet when the car is washed .
Fit a hot post cover after inspecting and cleaning the hot post and 14 pin connector above it ,
clean the engine grounds ,
clean the starter terminals.
the alternator terminals ,
all of the fuses and the relay pins,
\ get a fuse relay chart and verify the correct fuses and relays in the correct positions
fuse chart 928GT.com on page 2 under tips and links

Thanks. I can handle most of that. I don't know a whole lot about electronics.
