turbo?

hello, I'm new to this board. I have an 1984 928S with the 4.7L. I was just wondering if it was possible to twin turbo my car. Can it fit? Any help is appreciated.

Yikes, I'm not sure where you would be able to stick twin Turbos? HP not enough for you? I know that you can do a Chevy Conversion, and I think there are a handful of Supercharger products out there for the 928s...

Well I'm getting into the POC and would like more HP. Not much has been done to it yet. And I don't think I'd want to take away from the Porsche name by putting some American engine in there. Maybe the supercharger idea is a good one. Do u know where I could get one.

I thought it was on this bbs but maybe not but I know I thought of the same question you did and when looking for info I found that porsche actually made a 928tt motor for a boat... I have no idea at all about what boat... but I saw a pic and one thing I remember reading is that they put them in a few test cars and they were faster than 930's and that's not allowed to happen by porsche standards and so they never produced them... if that's the only reason they didn't produce such a thing as a 928tt then if I had endless $ I would jump all over the idea. I'm gonna search old posts and ask on the 944 + 944t bbs pages.

It would seem silly to me that they wouldn't produce a twin turbo because it was quicker than a 930. I mean wasn't the 928 supposed to eventually replace the 911.

The boat:

It's not more power you need, early 928s are notoriously under-braked. You need to first get the suspension and brakes sorted and then figure out the power situation. Also you will probably have to rebuild the engine first before power upgrades. We recently did an estimate to upgrade for an early car to euro 5.0 with 2 valve heads with about 330hp that was about $14k installed.

no turbos for you.

Only because of your stock intake system. KE jetronic has a air flow sensor plate. You basically have a CIS with electronic injectors and Lambda sensor to make it all a closed loop.
So it put a presurized system in your car you need L of LH jetronic or a MOTEC system. (mass air). I would think that your "S" brakes would be quite good enough with a smooth driving style.
Have you ever thought about lightneing your car to make it go faster?
78 928. 3200 lbs "S" brakes 400lb springs W/ Bilstiens. S4 wheels. Borla etc. no cat.

No, "S" brakes are not good enough either! If you go for the late (86 on) and S4 you will be fine. Dropping some weight out of the car is a good move too.

Dropping weight (928s are notoriously heavy) will probably buy you more bang for your buck. One of the reasons that the 928 wasn't really known as having excellent performance, is that the car was built so heavy. It's not as easy to lighten a 928 as it is a 911, but it can be done...

This is the only one I know of. I have read many posts writen by the owners of cars that have this system. It seems to be a well thought out kit.
