Unstable tachometer

Hi guys..

Weird issue for you all to solve

My rev counter has been acting up lately, as in not working When i get in the car, close the door and start the car, the tach doesn't work. However, if I wait and close the door after the car is started, the tach jumps up, and works just fine!

It also works if I close the door (with a bit of oumph) after the first procedure. And just like all other problems on a 928, it comes in periods..

What do you make of it all?
Thanks, Niels.

Owning a 928 is risky business - but sometimes you just gotta say "what the fudge".

to fix this you need to remove the gauges and clean the back side of the connections to the tach and slide on connectors use an eraser to clean the surfaces

Damn, I've been ignoring that 'pod for quite some time, but I guess the job is inevitable when owning a 928 :/

I agree with Mrmerlin - my speedo was intermittent, cleaning the cluster connections fixed it 100%. Sounds like you have the same issue.
