catalytic convertor temperature monitoring system 85 928S US

Behind the CE panel, M13 also connects to J15. J15 is tied to the catalytic converter temperature monitoring system via a diode.

my mechanic felt this wire was grounded and was preventing the xciter wire from getting power causing all my warning lights to stay on.

he disconnected it, and that's when he got the exciter wire hot and warning lights off.

i thought a cat temp sensor was Japanese cars only.

does anyone know where this diode is?

I just looked on the 85 we have.

No wire in the J15 position, so the diagram must have covered japan also.

What wire, then, did your guy manipulate?

I bet the broken wire in the harness was your main issue.

If you would snap a photo of the CE panel with a digital camera, I think I can help you figure it out.

No wires should be cut to rectify a charging problem on a car that hasn't been butchered previously.

Does the US model 32 valve have this system? I thought that was on the S4's and later, but I could certainly be wrong. My '85, an S2 doesn't have it.

Cat fires were a real problem for the USA 32V. I think Porsche was forced to take action.
Not sure if it was before S4 release or not.
Will search some more. I have an 86 in the basement I can check
Anybody else know?
