Can 1 purchase original waffle hood mat ?

Hi.

My vehicle still has the original hood waffle mat. It is sagging a bit in a section and has a bit of a small tear where the throttle linkage moves.

I really like to keep it original.
What I have seen were/are different types with the Porsche insignia and foil type mats.

Can one buy an original and if yes, how doe's one attach (?) -with glue at the perimeter perhaps?

I wish to get the hood painted and I'd do this after the fact. Can it be done properly while the hood is attached to the rest of the vehicle ?

Send a message via Yahoo to Mrmerlin
Roger sells them they are 90.00 and come with the adhesive already applied
On the car place a big sheet over the engine and fenders the scrape off the foam

Off the car place a few towels on the grass then flip the hood onto the towels,
this is the best way to remove the old and install the new foam.

clean the old foam and glue off,
use a can of PB blaster,
spray down the hood and let it sit for 30 mins then use a bondo spreader to scrape off the old adhesive.

Use some spray degreaser to remove the PB blaster then wipe the hood down with alcohol,

test fit the new part prior to removing the film,
once its on it on

928rus.com is Roger. If its a Porsche supplied part, good chance Pelican sells it too. Might be worth checking Sunset Porsche, they often have the best prices on Porsche only items.

I used one from a guy here in Michigan, forget his name but he makes nice hood insulators with Porsche logo on them. His are made with aircraft material and seem quite good. I think he also does leather repairs and car interiors.

Unfortunately this is another case where the stock materials do not hold up spectacularly well, nor look particularly good.

However these are by no means close to as nasty as GTS intake hoses or late S4/GTS rear wheel well liners that are just a bad joke from a materials longevity perspective. (a very hard to find and expensive joke at that...)

Stock supply on these hood liners is still easily available at a more-or-less reasonable cost.

Follow Mrmerlin's advice on removing old liner and glue. I removed my hood when I did it. Use contact cement for counter tops, etc. worked and is still on my car after 2 years.
