rotors
Need new rotors on my "S" brakes. Some people are selling all different brands and making thier claims. What is the difference between Zimmerman OEM and Genuine Porsche. Is there any benefit to frozen rotors?
What are the rotors that PP stocks. So far they have my bussiness just because of service. Not because I use thier Message board.

Zimmerman was one of the original manufacturers for rotors for Porsche. Porsche itself doesn't make brake rotors, but instead has other companies manufacture the rotors (under their specifications) for the cars. They then package them in Porsche boxes, and ship them to the dealers.
So the product is exactly the same, it's just a different colored box, different brand name, and a very different price. Cryogenically treated rotors have been heated and quenched in order to change their internal material properties. While I'm not an expert on freezing rotors, I do remember from college that this process can harden materials and also improve certain characteristics that are good for heat dissipation, etc. In general, if you are using your car on the stree, the cryogenic rotors are overkill. You would probably only see a benefit if you were racing the car heavily at the track, and you tended to heat up your rotors quite a bit... -Wayne

Hello
Well there are several OEM who produce for Porsche as well. Some don´t sale the same unit like they deliver to Porsche. German made rotors always had been the top notch even in the aftermarked. Original Porsche rotors use some special treatment and receive a special anti corrosion gray color wiutch also helps a bit enlarge the cooling surface. The OEM are not allowed to sale the rotors with that extra. Grüsse |

Hi Roland. While that's probably true on some models, the rotors that we've gotten from Porsche versus the ones from Zimmerman are indistringuishable...
