The early S4 and later S4 calipers have different size pistons by a couple mm. There are no outward visual clues to tell the difference. Unless there is a part # on the caliper, you my just have to pull the pistons and measure them to insure correct new seals. BTW. to install those on a 928 we would have to flip them over and change the plumbing (mounted on the trailing side of our rotors) :)

Well that took the easyness of the rebuild kit away haha, but I have the wheels off so often I'll just look for a part number.

I've always had excellent experience with them on all of my cars, I suggested them to a friend with an e46 M3 and he loves them. I was torn between the Carbotech and the PF but the cost difference is around $100 so I plan on sticking with what I know. I'll be sure to give a full review after a track day with them.

The issue may not be the pad. I have early S4 calipers on my 928 with stock pads. They too seem to lack intitial bite. They will stop great but the caliper feels like its slow to react. On the other hand I have Big Reds on my 951 with Pagid orange. They have crazy initial bite even cold. Almost too much, it takes a lot of practice and a real precise foot to manage it

This was what I was fearing, I like that intial bite since I think it makes me (feel haha) faster. While it's not so bad to not have that initial bite, I think it makes me a little weary since I'm used to cars that instantly bite and stop. I'd prefer the feel that you say the big reds give. I'll try a rebuild and new pads up front for a few months. If that fixes it then great, and if not I'll change it.
