Far easier, yes.

Take a thin, sharp pencil and trace the hinge against the hood before removing.

Search about the blower fan. You should find some bearing lube information. Stan did a good writeup. My 16V grounds cleaning thread has a few pictures.

The fan can seize in the bearings. Also, there is a resistor set mounted in the air plenum. Different fan settings engage resistor coils to use energy, slowing the motor. Gets real hot, too.

When you remove the fan you can inspect the plenum for mouse nestings and you might want to consider replacing the resistor. Old isn't available. Newer one requires a couple wire swaps to work right.

Welcome to the board, whatever you do, wait until after the 17th to do it - my best memories of Dublin were spending St Patricks day at the pub on the Liffey , right by the Irish Revenue Commissions building.
I'm an ex-pat Brit, but as the saying goes -
May St. Patrick guard you wherever you go ...
Cheers
