Custom Hood Badge..how to do this?

I've been under the weather the last few days with a cold and haven't worked on Garrett's car Marvin. I thought it would be really cool to modify or make a custom hood crest that looks like the standard Porsche crest but replace the "Stuttgart" and prancing horse with MARVIN the Martian....kind of like this pic. In full color though. Marvin's helmet and suit is about the same green as his car. Any ideas as to how I could do this?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1300909469.jpg

Well, why not? Just color coordinate a little bit to math the rest of the crest. I think it's a neat idea.

Not sure at all on how to, but I have seen way to make your own Computer Case Badge and then use a special embossed looking cover. Idea is kind of the same but doubt it would last long in open weather.

What about weatherproof vinyl - just like the decal you made for me Leo :)

Just make the little centerpiece, color coded..

Duh, didn't know what I was thinking. Yes, that's an option. You could probably cut out the old carefully with a dremel, put Marvin in there, then somehow Epoxy Resin fill it.

Or just put it on top? I think it would hold up.

Hows this?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1300911251.jpg

Yes, I think it would work.

Then you could also go back to original with minimal effort :)

(or show people that it in fact is a Porsche!)

I like this one...I changed the green to be closer to the car.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1300911888.jpg

Leo...that looks great. Can you make the green closer to my second pic? So it comes close to match Synergy Green.

Can you make this? Cost?

Thanks

Hi Dean,

I can ask the local place I did our 928S Decal but they charge for artwork conversion, then per decal. I can ask but you might want to check your local town and send them the Picture we just made and see what they would charge first.

I will check here locally. Thanks...may I use your image?? Can you email a large file of it to deanfuller1960@gmail.com
That one is perfect.

Of course you can use my image. It was just a quick combination in Photoshop to achieve this. I can email you original images from work since they are on my desktop there.

Also, if it's local, you can also give them a Hood Badge so they can make an exact cut measurement.

If you know how to rasterize the image to Illustrator, that will save you big since they will charge to do this. Also, when they do print it up, there should be a lot of decals since it's printed on a single sheet.

Dean, I love what you are proposing, love it!
BUT
Just a word of caution, most ( reputable) badge makers, trophy makers, pin makers and similar shops will require a release from the company that owns the crest, logo or whatever.
Do you have the address of the Porsche legal dept in Atlanta, and about a year to wait for a reply :-)

Exactly why he's proposing a small decal solution, then he can remove it later.

+928 the only way to go . I was cautioning against trying to get someone to do a custom enamel.
