Left front brake caliper
Hi I'm still new at Porsche's. My left front brake caliper is sticking on. So I either need to replace it or rebuild it. Which do you guy's recommend. I have never done brakes on a Porsche. If I'm rebuilding who has the best parts kit and if I'm buying new or rebuilt calipers where's the best place to get them from. I suppose there must be some upgrade kit's but I'm only driving on the street no racing so do I need to do that?
Thank you for all you're help Otto

It depends on your personal level of mechanical comfort and ability. Porsche brakes really aren't any different than others. Doing a rebuild yourself is the cheapest way to go and is probably what most guys here would do. Of your not up to that the easiest way would be just to put a rebuilt one on.

S-brakes are great. But I'd replace hoses too. Sometimes its a collapsed inner hose that prevents release.
Call 928 intl and get a kit. Cheap. I clean the outside with wire brush extensively before disassembly. The, pop out the pistons (safety here!) and put them in the kitchen sink, clean bores and piston with 600 grit paper, running a thin stream of water. Dry, rinse in acetone. Dry and reassemble. I use a very thin layer of dielectric grease to lube. Simple. Have done this on 5 sets of S-front calipers. They don't pit like GM stuff. No hone needed.

These brakes are very easy to work on, here's a reply that i sent a while ago, hope it helps,
I did a full rebuild of the brakes on my 82' S a few months ago and it was very simple to do. The other guys are right in suggesting an inspection of the piston an piston boot, My pistons were rusted in places which was easily removed with some 1200 wet n dry paper, i replaced the boots as they were unsalvagable along with the O Rings as well. Make sure to lubricate well with brake assembly grease when you reassemble everything as it makes certain nothing will bind or seize when you don't want it to. Also i found bleeding each wheel as i completed it and then bleeding all four again when i was finished made sure i got rid of any air lurking in the lines. Also a good way to flush your lines. The photos below are of the finished product, all the parts required are available from Pelican parts. Regards, Brenton. ![]() __________________ 1982 928S M28.11 Auto ![]()

Go to "front caliper refurb" within this link for the Cliff note pictures from an overachiever's perspective.
