1986 928S specs....

Anyone know if the 1986 928S 288HP/302LB FT torque numbers are derived from the crank, or at the wheels? Just curious if anyone has such erronious information.

Why do you need this information??

I know my 86 has plenty of power to spare, spins the rear wheels effortlessly, I don't have your answer

Crank.

Why does 'anyone' need this kind of information? Curiousity, of course. Thanks, gents!

Erroneous? Inconceivable!

Manufacturer figures are generally quoted as crank figures. However the 85/86 32V with chips will happily put down higher numbers at the wheels than the factory quoted crank figures.

Yes, I understand. I wish I knew how it was measured. Of no importance to me however as it goes just fine for an older car. Many new cars have much more HP but do they handle as nicely? Love the car for what it is and enjoy!

I believe that HP was normally measured as crank HP in those days, I suspect most mfg. HP numbers still are today. Wny? Better number than wheel HP and independent of transmission selections and the like....
