fuel lines
hey guys, the steel fuel lines that run under my 79 car are in need of replacing, rusted soon to be leaking has anyone changed these lines with regular stock? any advice? thanx

I would have to say that stock ones may not be available, but did you check all the sources?? If not you can make your own.

Make your own fuel line get a roll of the right size line from a summit or youe local speed shop and get some metric to an fittings.

yeah ,that was my thought ,, looks like 3-8th steel line but wasnt sure what to do for the fittings,and if the roll of tubing is strong enough or should i use the steel line straights and bend em up,the vent lines in the back over the wheel are rotted too, back there i can see using the ez bend line but wasnt sure about under the car,i got the rubber lines and clamps from roger, so its time to make it all new,another chapter in rereshing the fuel delivery plumbing and ventilation

Just replace it from point A to point B and be done with it.

It is metric line so you need to get metric to AN. I believe it would be - 6 line which will fit in where the line runs under the car. Be there done that.

The rubber line going to on the return to my tank is bad, which goes to a factory hard line. I am going to cut an splice steel braided an8 (?) I'm using a compression fitting with a screw on connector on the other side. Lindsey racing makes a kit for the 944turbo and I'm basically adapting that. waiting for parts now.. Ill post how it goes.

yeah, im gonna drop the tank and replace everything,, all steel lines are corroded, i didnt know about line size or what an meant,,local mechanic told me there was no metric size lines,,only 3/8 or 5/16 i didnt think he was right,, i will pursue my search for the metric hard lines, and figure out how to make the fittings,thanx for all your help, btw pete i still have that engine in my shop, let me know if your interested,,peace

Make sure you get thee right fittings or you will be having a big leaky mess.

so mark, if youve already done this do you know what fittings i should get? the hard line attaches to the rubber lines ,so i will need a fitting to fit those lines, and my next question is where do you get the metric 6 tubing ?

okay i found the tubing in 6mm or 10 mm 10 is closest to 3/8 if i converted it right,,, fed hill they have fittings too for brake lines i wonder if they are the same?
