central warning light system

Is it normal for the centrail warning system light to stay on once the car has been started

No other indivuidual warning lights are on and the central i indicator light is not flashing

All fluid levels seem to be ok

Once the car has started I can turn off the i warning light by pusjing it to reset it

Thanks

Nope, it's not normal. In a normal situation, it will be on with the key in, once you start the car up, it will extinguish. There are a lot of variables. One common one is the Brake Pad Sensors.

Thanks

This is now begining to make some sense

When I first start out in the monring I do get a loud noise coming from the brakes and it then goes away shortly there after and does not come again when I break

This may well be the issue

So bad break wear sensor (s)

Thanks

Or maybe the sensors are working properly, and your pads are shot? :)

Also check the timing belt tension. There is a spring switch in the tensioner on the later models.

need more info.

The I light will be on after the car is started,
IF the E brake is pulled ,
release E brake it should go off.
If not then the switch under the E brake handle may need to be adjusted

also the brake light warning will be lit till you step on the brake,
if the I light stays on after this then you need to check the warning lights,

to do that get the owners manual and see what the warning lights are then turn on the key and see if they are all lighting up,
if any of them are out then that system may be suspect as triggering the I light

Thanks everyone

Will check the pads and see if this corrects the problem

If not one to the timing belt tension and the e brake

As always appreciate the help

Just try and do this test (emergency brake release) on level ground. No need to put stress on your Tranny Gears.
