Soldering has two big issues;
Talk to the battery guys and they can tell you about the current it takes given the gauge of wire and type of soldered connection for the solder to melt due to the higher resistance of solder vs copper. If there is any vibration or flexing the copper will tend to break close to the rigid soldered area. |

Ratcheting Crimping Tool $15 without coupon, looks the same, OK for some types of crimps, not larger wires.

Inspect in the store. I bought another of the $3 calipers and went through every one on the peg before I found one that didn't have some flaw.
Its not just HF, I was in Home Depot looking at some pistol grip pliers, not one out of the 15 or so was worth taking home. |
