82 Wet Floor Behind Drivers Seat
Hello All,
I took the plunge again and picked up a 82 928 US. Just finished up re-doing all the rubber hoses, vac lines, fuel lines and filters. Car runs well with a little trouble on start up. I need to hit the gas pedal but it starts right up when I do that. I am getting a lot of water in the rear foot well behind the drivers seat. I can not find any signs of the leak any where. It is a sun roof car but when I hose it down nothing comes through the sun roof, doors or hatch. |
Bad brakes?
Should start without touching the gas pedal, something is wrong. Check the temp sensors. Does the sunroof seal well? Maybe drains blocked? Wet carpet is likely wrecked, so maybe pull it up behind the seats and sit in the back while somebody hoses the car and you watch for leaks. |
check your door seal, theres a "V" cut out above the doors under the medal molding over the doors, your rubber seal may be bad-rotted

The sunroof is completely shut and I cant get it to leak with the hose. The carpet is shot. smells great in there too!!! I have the seats out. I am currently rebuilding the seat motors looks like mine needs brushes and a good cleaning in the housing. The brake pedal seems fine, but I havent pulled the tires yet. Waiting for the weekend so I can pull the tires and see what I will need to order next. I am going to have someone hose her down while I am inside to see where the leak is coming from. I will have him spend some time spraying the door seals.

Hatch gasket is one culprit.
Firewall to heater box seal, resulting in water dripping to the right of gas pedal, then running back past the seat is another. Am dealing with 3 cars suffering from hatch gasket, and two from firewall seal. Also have 3 leaking at rear quarter windows. PITA Sunroof is designed to drain from the corners. Often cited, but usually its not the main culprit. |
How about the hidden access having been previously used? Maybe it needs to be resealed back in place?
|
Good point.
|
Where would the hidden access be at?

Under the car in the back seat floorboard, IIRC
