Quick question - how unique are the 928 Windshields?
Got hit by a stray stone on Saturday and now have two crescent shaped cracks just below the rear view mirror. Are 928 windshields a standard shape and size that would be supplied by any auto glass company, or do I need to get specific? I know rear quarters are special...
Just about to call my insurance company.

After reading this I think the noise I made was "Eeeeeppp..." - lucky I have glass cover at no excess (or claims bonus penalty) - well, I better have!
Hopefully the Australian equivalents are abundant here.

there is no such thing as a standard windshied stoolie,, every car has a different shape, and a different size windshield,, most aftermarket glass companys have windshields for every car, but in some cases the windshield must be bought oem,,,, i just replaced my windshield in my 85 and had to go oem because there was nothing available aftermarket with an antenna, insurance companies have no choice sometimes

yup, you need a 928 windshield. I didnt need an antenna but I had the choice of brown or green tinting since the are all the same shape

In the USA quality replacement glass for the 928 varies a ton in price, but some searching should turn up Sigla or Pilkington for $300 to $400 installed, the exception being the cars with an antenna in the glass. Beware cheap Chinese glass with waves.

All booked in for next week - they found one of the only ones in town, it's got the green tint, and is a Moran from Aussie. I have to drop the car in as they can't do a mobile replacement, which makes me think they will have to do the whole kit (or it's too big to fit on the mobile dolly).
Only down side is that I have to drive it in it's cracked state - over 30km of road that hasn't been repaired after the events of the last year. Oh well, I know where most of the craters are now!
