WTB: 928 GT engine
I'm looking for a complete and good working order 928 GT engine for a '91 GT. I assume any GT engine '89-'91 would work. Immediate cash buyer. Thank you.

Try 928 International. I know where an S4 engine is, but the engine you are looking for might be a little harder to find due to the rarity of the car.

Todd has all the normal and even slightly abnormal sellers on speed dial, finding a GT motor will take looking in the nooks and crannies.

Todd,
ErnestSw on RL had an '89 GT that he sold when he moved to New Hampster. The guy he sold it to removed the engine and put some type of Detroit engine in it to make a racecar. I saw not too long ago that the racecar guy was selling the GT engine. You might be able to track that engine down as it was at one time a very well sorted engine. JCC |

Do you know if the ad is still up for the engine? Where did you see it advertised? Thanks. Todd |

I'm not sure that I ever saw the ad, but I know it was discussed on RL. The engine above is not the same engine, but looks as though it should be what you are looking for. |
That Ebay GT engine keeps poping up but it had 135,000 miles on it back in June '03 according to the 928registry. I can't imagine lowmiler would be interested in an engine with that kind of mileage.

From the Portland GT listing:
"Very Good Condition. Ran Great with no smoke and no unusual noise. Has No Code stamp which means the block was at one point replaced with a factory replacement block." (Note: 'PK Auto Parts' is not affiliated with 'PK Products') |
Todd likes code stamps.

I think that's a scam, He shaved the digits off himself. I once went to California with my buddy and went to look at a S4 short block with 16 valve heads that had the number shaved since the block was purchased directly from Porsche in 87 and put into a 79, needless to say the short block was from a 79. I don't think the factory would sell an engine with the number shaved. DR once said about factory replacement motors that went into GTS cars that had an engine stamp that was for an Auto GTS. According to my vendor there is still some GTS short blocks left for about 6000.(off topic, I know)
The guy mentioned above has a user name of Aspkiller. The engine was out of a pristine 90 GT from Texas, he wanted 5000 dollar for complete engine, X-pipe, computers and all, since he converted the car to a LS7 track car. But I think he sold the engine. Here is a thread he started about 928 engine vs chevy engines. PORSCHE RACE TRACK ENGINES VS CHEVY RACE TRACK ENGINES - Rennlist Discussion Forums Good Luck |
