Ignition Question

I have a 1982 928. When I try to start the car the key doesn't spring back after starting, I have to do it manually. But also half the time the starter doesn't disengage. My question is do I need a new key & tumbler or the electronic part that attaches to it, or both.
Thanks

Try taking it out (ignition switch) and cleaning the switch. Dry ease works on the key section (dry graphite lube). You can try spraying it out with contact cleaner and de-oxit.

If you need to replace it, try to get the electrical section from a used car, or a real porsche part. Stay away from Ebay/chinese parts. Fires have happened.

Common problem - you need only the switch part ( 928.613.017.00 ) that is on the end of the assembly. Make sure you get a genuine porsche part, not the cheap chinese knock offs that are on ebay!
