928 park lights
I just picked up a 1982 928S...For some reason my driver-side park light and side marker light does not come on. All the other lights are fine, even the driver-side blinker works. Could they be wired together and a bad lamp breaks the circuit?
Any suggestions? |

If you mean rear side marker & rear marker - they are not in series (no bulbs are on your 928), but you may have a common grounding issue between these two - you need to evaluate the connections.

Ok so first up, please tell me you checked the bulbs and the bulb connection points.
I dont know about the 928 but the 944 has separate power leads for the left and right park lights. My friend had a 944 for a while and a similar situation happened. I ended up diagnosing the light switch; which I disassembled and repaired. The reason the contact burned out was because someone added non OE taillights and powered them from the drivers side parkers = too much current draw through the switch. I would check the downstream power leads for 12v when the lights are on. It could be a faulty connection- either in the switch or somewhere else.

Assuming the front markers work on that side - it is not the light switch.

Thanks guys...I found that the harness (panel where the fuses are also) didn't have a good connection. I still just ended up puttining th new bulbs in anyway (what a pain for the side markers!)
I did find out that the front park lights and the side markers ARE powered by the same wires. There is a 4-point connector with a jumper symbol on it. |
