1986 ABS sensor issues

I'm having a hard time finding a front abs sensor for my early '86. Porsche part number 92860640400. I understand that it's out of production. I found one at Design911 in England. It arrived today. The sensor is different. The lead is shorter and the sensor itself is shorter as well. The Bosch number is 025001053. The number on the old sensor is 025001054.
Has anyone else had this issue? I'll take any input at this point.
Thanks,
Eddie

Hi

According to the Bosch list the sensor part numbers for 08/85 to 07/86 cars are

Front 0 265 001 119
Rear 0 265 001 118

These are the same sensors as the s4 cars and are readily available.... could be that as you have sourced the replacement from the uk they have assumed that yours is an earlier type suspension car and sent you the earlier sensors, which are different!

Regards

Geoff

oh BTW the connecting plugs will be different as well

Bosch part numbers are normally 10 numbers long....can you re check??

o.k. done a quick search...this company/organisation/person lists that part number for a 1984s assuming you have left the 6 out of the part number
http://www.laga.se/delinfo.aspx?delindx=42929451&bilkod=3720&delkod=7 646 perhaps your car is one that was made earlier than it was registered, do you know what year it was born..not sold, what type of callipers are on the car?

perhaps they have sent the rear instead of the front?

ill try to check tommorrow

Thanks Maybach!
I was one number off and it was indeed a 6. Full number 0265001053. The car was born 7/85, and has the plain-jane early calipers. It's possible the sensor was re-boxed, the label is torn and the box was taped. It does have the barrel type connector, which is correct, so maybe it is a rear?
I appreciate the input. I'll keep digging!
I have gotten a used sensor in the past from 928 International, still working fine, and was an exact match.
Thanks,
Eddie

Bringing back an old thread. Eddie, if you are still on here. Do you still have the 0265001053 wheel sensor? It is indeed a rear sensor for a ROW car. I happen to need one. fingers crossed

Best,

W

Hi, I'm looking for the same sensor. My info says the later 928S4 sensot won't fit. Did you found a solution?
