Unhappy Noise from -85 944

Hey guys.
My early 85 944 has started to make a noise that sound like it from the back. It makes it under acelleration but not under lite load. It's not the click....click..of a CV shaft unless 944 make difrent sound then other FWD cars. It's a Woba woba type noise. Never heard anything like it before. Wheel bearings feel fine. One other thing strange started around the same time the starter does not allway engage. I'm kinda thinking maybe the two are related. Is it common for the flywheel to come loose like on some other cars? Could it be drive shaft? Does 944 use Gebo's like my old bmw 2002?

Thanks guys.
Tony
