question about afm resistance
I just checked the resistance on my afm and the resistances on pins 6and 8,8 and 9, and 6and 7 were way too high according to the porsche manual for my afm with a date stamp of 030 what does that mean ? All of the resistances were within the ranges for the afm's with the 042 date stamp is it possible that my car has the wrong afm? Would that even make a difference? My car is an 84 model I bouight it sick and am trying to fix all the horrific neglect and have done very well but the car stutters at about 1800 rpm and I cant track that down but most everything seems to point to the afm , any help you guys could give would be greatly appreciated!

The AFM readings are interesting actually. I have two meters which both test nearly identically (within 042 spec on all but the 27/6 test - which is within the earlier spec). I would guess that for an 84 you should absolutely have the 042 date sensor. That's the last year for the barn door style AFM.
Your 1800 rpm stutter may be similar to mine (though at closer to 2800). More Information Here As a side note - I just realized where the 042/030 date stamp is (inside the circuit box, next to the spring). That pretty much negates my idea of the 042 switch being in 80/81 MY.
