My first 928, WOW
 

I have owned and parted/fixed many many 944s but picked up my first 928 a couple of days ago. I don't know a lot about them compared to the 944 but figured a lot would be similar. We bought the car not running because the key wouldn't turn but took a chance. We bought it to pull apart as the interior is pretty much completely shot and really wanted to just learn more about the 928's. It is an 82 automatic and I have never had such a permagrin as when we slammed the screwdriver down the key cylinder and was able to get the key to turn. Attached is the video of the engine running. Do they all sound this unbelievable. It is a completely differnet animal than the 944. I am now in the market for a decent restorable 928! I wish I would have kept the video rolling so you all could have seen the impish grin on my 11 year olds face when he turned the key.

It wasn't hit. The interior is really completely gone and he had some stuff missing/slashed at an attempt on it. I am going to try to take this one apart and take the $ to but a better one for myself? It came with flashdish rims (D90 maybe) Ill have to check and some spectacular cup 1 rims and like new butterscotch colored 997 seats. I am going to try and trade away/sell everything and use the dissassembly process as a learning tool. My sons and I are taking notes on everything and just trying to learn for when we get ours! We took apart the butt and front today, again, very different than the 944 we are used to!

Nothing is really special/unique on an '82 928 automatic, I think you'll have trouble shifting the parts.

Thanks for the info. So what should I expect from the important stuff? Engine, trans..... Like I said interior is shot so seeing where I am. I didn't pay much and don't expect a lot. Like I said, Trying to learn.

i lost my @ss on parts i got rid of! still have some,that noone wants. rims/tires and smalls its kinda better to buy one thats done for more money that maybe needs some fixn,instead of buyn one that needs everything-cheaper in the long run. my opinion

82 has very little you can reliably sell at a profit, but I agree taking one apart is a great way to learn about the car. 4.5 engines sell for scrap prices, 5 spd worth a few hundred depending on LSD, AT not much if it isn't running so it can be tested. Check a few threads for a what to scrap, what to sell list.

stepson, it is a weissach but I have heard that is just badges and interior and both of those are shot on this car.

and of course it didn't come with the luggage.

Any project you are going to find is going to need a interrior. Please dont kill another one..

You have a running, weissach edition 928, why part it out? Fix it and have it ready for your 11 yearold to drive when he gets his license. A father son project.

From what i can tell, that car is too nice to part out. So what if its missing a few parts?

also, for 3k you can buy a decent driver.. Check craigslist every once in a while.
