Trunk lock cylinder help

I have a 1982 928 with a trunk lock cylinder with alarm that has failed. After finally getting the hatch to release, I removed the lock assy with the assumption the plastic lock had a worn arm. Upon disassembly of the lock I found the metal lock cylinder tab that actuates the lock release had broken off.

Two questions.

Does any one know where I can get just the lock cylinder, I have not been able to locate one, the whole assembly runs about $460 .

If I can't locate a lock cylinder and don't want to pay the above $460 does anyone know if the non alarmed lock assy, approx $170, would work as well as the alarmed unit without screwing up the rest of the alarm system?

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

i have several, i dont know if prev owner switched so their car would be secure to their own key, if alarmed and switched, if worn, if broken. ill find em and post.

never looked at them or needed them, you can have one when you/all figure exactley what will work out for you.

as well plenty of peeps parting to not have to pay that for one.

posted, junk or ????able,not even right style/yr?.... maybe part needed off it to get another working. think these were in bag with 82us if not 78euro. the single pic cyl/lock housing metal opposite key end major metal rippage/damage. other two are bottom hatch? prob replaced worn nylon not grabbing to lock,again parts / junk.....

i see , yes? the bottom piece- heres on the car minus the blur, the tab that locks top to bottom. looks like prev pics of two thats what happening pic no insert other plastic but tab across broke off. looks like i got no spare there. better dab epoxy on the fragile plastic ends sooos to prevent the inevitable from what it looks like. can the nylon cup/insert be had for purchase only,haha on us again, that be another roger that.. noooo go. man nothing pisses more than blurr photo, please dont tell me its eyes pics clear,lol.

there was no key in first pic with it, and again metal housing cracked, maybe you pm your addy and that way itll be in your hand to figure out.....

just make sure i sent correct , your cyl side is broke? or the other side it shuts too?
maybe you post a pic of your brokenness to see if whoever has whatever for you. if im any help ,gladly.

You can run a non-alarm upper in place of your original without any ill effects. With two things to keep in mind. First if you open the rear gate before you unlock the side doors you will trigger the alarm, and you will longer be able to operate the central locking from the hatch.
One solution to the first problem is to disconnect the interior light switch at the base of the lower hatch latch. This will keep the alarm from triggering when the rear is opened whether or not the alarm is armed, but will also disable the activation of the interior lights when just the rear hatch is open.

Here is a Picture of the broken part on the cylinder I would like to thank ifausty for the supplied part and generosity in trying to help with my problem. Unfortunately when I disassemled the part sent by ifausty the same cam was broken off the cylinder.

I will for the time being put a non alarmed lock in my car with the hopes of finding a salvagable unit that I can put my tumbler unit in. I really do want to keep everything on the same key and the car as original as possible.

I've only had my 928 for three months and have had a great time working on it. Windshield washer pumps, altenator repair, powersteering line leaking on exhaust manafold, and the lock assy.

I've spent much time on these boards researching my car issues and really appreciate all the great information that is available.

hmmm. well thats too bad. wish you a quick fix. back to square one.. classifieds for parting outs would get you most attn. vs someone finding you in tech section. maybe someone else will jump in with the next offer as any tech info or links are not going to help until you have something there to work with.

Hey Lfausty,

The picture of the spring loaded body latch may be what I need. I have this barrel type brown wire lying in my back deck right at the latch that goes no where. Is there a screw type fitting at the bottom of the body latch that this wire would ground too? If so, would like to pick it up. My 928 is a 1982 also.
