Question Power Seat Drive

Hi

My latest project has been re-trimmed and PO used a cotton wadding sound deadening ie strands of cotton in about 1" sheet. All good where under carpet but an off-cut ended under the drivers seat and has been sucked into the forward back drive mechanism on one side of the seat. This limits movement. I have wedged my hand under the seat and removed as much as possible (post activity wrist damage resembled poor suicide attempt...) but need a better idea of how mechanism works so I can clean it up. Imagine cotton strands wound into mechanism.

I can get to the screws on the front of both rails but can not move seat forward to access rear slide screws so can't remove the seat.

Is there any latch or override on the mechanism so I can move the seat?

Any ideas on how to remove cottons strands? Is it just metal in the drive and could I paint some acid to dissolve cotton or are there bits that may not like this approach?

Any ideas appreciated .

Cheers

Walter

What model car?

The early cars have a manual forward and aft handle waaay deep from the front. Its a small metal tube. But if the strands are in the gears you may not be able to move it. If so if may be time for a razor blade to start cutting it off.

is there a handle across front so seat can be pulled or pushed itll override automatic for just such purpose as when automatic is inop. if no handle/installed is there hole there for a handle and come up with something to use/pull up push down to release manually so it will slide .

theres no space 1-3 inches under seat motors jammed with thread, a battery charger reverse forward the clamps to wind/unwind if powerswitches are now jammed. but doubt youd get manuverability/eyesight to do it. 3 motors finding the one that rides the approp rail.

3 different motors , maybe raise the seat button for up/down high as can and work/see from back.

make bunch of cuts with razor , snips pick it out, spray a lube run that motor. til you can get the seat out and fix all. thats about the same as it being fibers/sand/dirt/webs/dried grease of decades to a jam as anything. once seat motors are disconnected and seat out , track/rails motor/teeth clean em all with a carb cleaners, run with battery charger to move all motors then regrease, install connections and 4 rail bolts.

tarp down when seat upside down to not scuff/damage the seat material .

Gentlemen

Thanks for the advice and yes there is not much space under the seat and juggling mirror torch and razor blade is not fun.

I have been making slow progress but will look for override system as seat removal would be much better for my fingers.

Car is a 85 Euro spec auto with aftermarket body kit located in Western Australia. I think the kit is a Stosek Version 111 but any advice appreciated. Pic attched
