Seattle and Portland
I'm in Seattle this morning, shortly boarding cruise to Alaska, but I will be back next Friday and Saturday and we are making a quick loop down to Portland before flying home. Not a clue on available time, anything Porsche I should try to see?
Mostly an idle thought, good chance wife has every minute planned for me. ![]() I'll be checking in from time to time, but wifi a bit scarce.

Being originally from the PNW, specifically, the Portland area, I can almost guarantee overcast weather

Not sure if they still do this, but a tour of the Boeing assembly line might be worth while.

if you have the time, perhaps check out Griot's Garage HQ in Tacoma - they usually have some Porsche's on display.

Inner Passage - Alaska
Hey Danglerb, The inner passage up the coast of BC to Alaska is a beautiful trip. If you get the chance take one of the whale sightseeing excursions while you're up that way.
Also, as far as Porsche related side trips - there used to be a very large foreign car wrecking yard out near the town of Puyallup. You may need a whole day just to walk around and see everything Porsche related. Have a great time, Michael ![]()

Home is great to be at, but cruise was very nice, not stepping near a scale for a couple weeks, they stuff you like a goose.
We flew into Seattle on Thursday, had dinner with some friends, and boarded the boat on Friday afternoon. Stopped in Ketchikan, Juneau, made a round turn at Tracy Arm Fjord, then Skagway, evening in Victoria, following Friday back in Seattle. Rented a Ford Fusion and drove down to the Columbia river, followed it on the Washington side to the bridge at Astoria, then down to seaside and east to Portland. Powell books, Voodoo donuts, and some general shopping, but nothing Porsche. Left Sunday morning crossing back and forth on the Columbia going east, then back north to Yakima and on to Seattle. Made our flight with about half hour "extra" to spare. We saw glaciers, whales, and a LOT of jewelry. Alaska is so different, lots of barren rock, but also pristine wilderness. Beautiful, harsh contrasts, things looking normal, then completely different from down south. Hope it doesn't take me long to recoup from vacation, both ears plugged on descent back in OC, hearing slowly returning in gurgles and buzzes. Drove past Griots TWICE, but only because we were lost looking for the AAA office, and wife not in the mood to stop. We drove through Pullyup, Mosier, etc. but sticking to vacating and a tight schedule by then. A goth couple got married at Voodoo Donuts while we were there, very weird, very good donuts. Wife got a raised glazed the size of a pie. |
