Excellent setup Ron. I am very jealous of all the space that you will have.
I wish I had such a setup for when the cold weather sets in. I know it is still months away but my most productive time on cars seems to be cold winter mornings when nothing else is stirring about.
Congratulations !!

Thanks Brian! I have never had a shop, or garage, and all my projects have been outdoor...and some not so fun....the best part is that this is all mine....no storage, no sharing with the wife and kids....finally, a true workshop....the house has a garage, so the wife and girl #1 have a place for their cars...girl #2 can't drive yet....the only other stuff that will be in there will be the mower and the 4-wheeler!!!

Ya know, these metal buildings are not that expensive either....this building was $ 8,300 installed, the pad was another $2,500.....

it is a lot of money, but compared to a stick built, quite the bargain. I will be mounting the meter entry box and 200amp panel next week, and start slowly wiring. probably only put a couple outlets so i can run a heater and a little power up front...I want to start working more on the car, as I was supposed to have her running this summer!!!

Ron....looking good. Sorry to hear all the errors on your building by the supplier. Hope all gets worked out Friday. What the plans for the interior??? Finished walls or just electricity? Either way its a garage anyone would LOVE to have. Is it in line of sight from your house?

BTW...don't have a clue on rotating the pics.

Well, not sorted out yet...I put another pic in the blog....should be next week.

I plan on putting 120 all over it, and a couple 240 outlets for some future stuff....a lift??? a welder, of course, I want a tire machine, and a balancer, and who knows what else...lol...

Then, after all the power and lighting is in....hopefully next year, I will have it spray insulated, and then get my AC and heat put in!

I found a local tire shop on CL that shut down, and they were selling their lift, tire changer, balancer, air compressor, and floor jacks, all for $2500....I could not afford it right now, but it got my wish list going...!!!!

It is 30' from what will be my back patio. a little too close to the house perhaps, but not too bad. the back deck of the house will be about the same height as the roof line of the shop, so it sits below the main house level. We dug out the lot to have a walk-out basement and back yard. front of the basement and most of the sides are below grade.

Sweet setup buddy. Much nicer than my garage. I do have a pretty decent pole barn that houses two more cars, but it's a pretty shabby affair and probably won't last through another big ice storm. It needs reinforcement soon.

So nice, that looks fantastic. You are setup like most only dream of, myself included. Congrats and I have enjoyed your posts and threads.

Today went to a meet up of Porsche. Only my 928. Nice folks. It is pretty neat to stand around chiting and chating about cars and life. I like them 993's and the looks of the Cayman.

I don't see many Porsche on the highways in my part of southern cali. I saw Leo the other morning going to work in his 928 though. Hey there goes one of those V8 Porsche I thought to myself.

Thanks.....

My dad used to have a German car shop when I was a kid, and always had a nice garage and workshop, until we moved from CA to NC in '78. All driveway work since then....I've done a few revivals, but it always sucked to do them outdoors....

I believe my wife secretly is glad that I bought this car, as she approved the building, and cutting about 900 sq ft. off the house plan...but she sure doesn't act like it..lol...anyway, I have waited a long time for this....

I see lots of 944 around, but never see any 928 on the road, which is weird, because there are several listed on the local CL every time I check (ok I check daily)

Ron,
Great progress! I wondered what you were up to since SITM. I will be in the area (Concord) mid-Oct. (not NASCAR) so maybe I can see the shop and car. My 79 is long gone, but I have a few items you may want, so I will pack them. Planning on staying with friends in Cornelius Oct 11-13.

Thanks Leo! It was a long time coming...my house is not done yet, but so far I have used the shop to change the oil in my truck, put shocks on my daughters Murano, and work on the 928....don't know how I survived without it!

Dave!!!! Come see me! I'll message you my number! That will be awesome....I live about 20 min. from Cornelius cutting through country roads, about 15 from Concord....My house should be just about done by then...they say December, but we are already in the dry and electrical is up...I have to start the AC install this weekend....so no Porsche play
