Strange coolant leak
Since the car is going for it's MOT tomorrow i thought I'd let her run this evening for a while to make sure i wouldn't have any surprises tomorrow. As i walked to wards the car i noticed a lot fluid on the floor under the radiator, it was actually dripping down but i couldn't see where exactly it was coming from. So i started the car and checked again but still couldn't see the source. The leaking eventually stopped but the car was starting to run a bit hot so i shut down the engine. I then got some more coolant and filled her up again and started the engine, i looked again for the source of the leak, this time with a lamp, but it had stopped leaking all together. I let her run for 15 minutes and then took her for a short spin but the leak didn't come back and it wasn't running hot either. I'm stomped, have any of you seen anything like that before? I kinda don't trust her any more....

Checked this morning as the engine was cold, no leaks.
Started her up, let her run, drove to the MOT station, no more leaks. Weird..... ![]()

Prolly the tank gasket at the radiator, running it heats it up, swells, and seals? lol look at the fins for corrosion.

Thanks, i assume you're talking about the gasket between the radiator and the plastic end tank?

I had a small leak appear Jan 1 2012, passenger side top, end tank. Almost replaced the end tank but my rad had too many repairs already; went for a used radiator from 928 intl.
This was by far the easiset thing I have ever done on a car, replace a radiator in a 928. This will not be a problem for many years. ![]()
