This would be interesting to just try and test. If I were into electrics as an RCer I'd do it, but my love was Nitros and Gassers. I did 1/10 scale cars to 1/8 monster trucks to 1/4 scale buggies then went to fly 40 to 50 to 60 and 90 size Helicopters. You think the 928 is an expensive hobby, I had to quit RC as I couldn't afford it anymore.

yeah but w a 928 you are less likley to crash it in a field, lol yeah rc is expensive, iv did it for years still have some planes, giant scale and 1 heli left, some day i hope to fly again, sheesh its been over 10 years since iv flown

oh, electric fan assist

I have some exp with electric fan assist supercharging. (other makes models and kits) Waste of time and money. The difficulty is that it drains a LOT of juice and so you need to set up the power like a really big sound system amp. Another problem is that it is one more system...read "one more thing to go wrong". Yea! JUST what you need on a 928! More things to go wrong!

GTV, IMHO, the injectors on these cars are all old and the fuel lines to the rails are all suspect due to age/ mileage. If nothing else, replacing the old and brittle lines will ensure that all that hard work doesn't go up in flames. Cleaning and flow rating the injectors is fairly straightforward and I have done it myself, but it is soo much easier to just send out the banks to a pro and have it done. I would bet a beer that ONE or more of the injectors needs cleaning and or replacing. In the meantime, vac leaks, electrical connections, and the other usual suspect for less than perfect performance can be tracked down. I agree that you need to clean the entire fuel system.

"flat spot at 4500??" I would suggest a separate thread where someone else will suggest that the injectors be serviced, voltages, fuel pressure and vacuum checked.

when i have time lol i will try th electric supercharging idea, i was thinking of using th rc batterys to run th engines and wireing a batt charger th th batt packs, that should avoid th huge amp draw,

I think the idea of an electric supercharger is great, and I'd be willing to bet that, in time, they will actually be as efficient as a turbo or true supercharger, and maybe offer the same amount of boost, etc etc...But, seems like the technology just isn't there yet, to really make them into a viable option.

Electric superchargers are a hoax. Why dont you just add a leafblower to your intake.

My leaf blower actually oves quite a bit of air at over 200 mph.

Awee heck yeah! If you can power those with Lipos, then we'll be golden!

SolReaver 09-17-2012 12:22 PM

seriously....?

So....you have a flat spot on the power and you think hooking up a leaf blower to the intake will help that. My apologies, I was taking this thread seriously for a second there.

this one looks good for a giggle. :rolleyes:the leafblower probably better option

I don't think that was the case. He was asking about superchargers and I brought up the electric motors as I saw an ad on another forum (then asked for input). As silly as the conversation turned, the overall premise remains: if I can get a small, light electric motor to turn 20,000 RPM, why can't that get the job done? Cons are draws on the power supply; but wouldn't a standard supercharger drag on the drivetrain? I'm just asking because I really don't know.

I'm going to adapt a supercharger out of a Mercedes 230 Kompressor some day. I'm just waiting on my ex-wife to destroy her C230. Then I'll move in for the kill on that complete system that will fit where the A/C is in the 928. I don't particularly like the supercharger system that 928 motorsports offers because it takes out the stock fan for electric fans. I'd rather do it my way and not spend $5000.
