Fuel Accumulator Bypass?
![]() Okay, so after walking past the 928 for about a year everyday, i got the itch to fix and and drive it. Can i bypass the fuel accumulator by getting some high pressure fuel line and clamps, joining these two things together?

Accumulator -
Hey EIP, Anything is possible - it is just not that everything is necessarily a good idea. For one thing the accumulator stores the car’s running fuel pressure which is used to help restart the engine. Also, since you have removed the accumulator - the fuel lines you might install as a jumper around the accumulator’s location would have to be done properly to avoid any potential leaks, failures and/or fires. There is nothing like a Porsche on fire to draw the attention of a crowd along the highway. Personally I’d recommend that you simply leave the accumulator in place.
Although not recommended, you can delay the replacement of the accumulator and not have to deal with the typical “hard restart” issues if you add a toggle switch to provide an additional ground to the fuel pump relay. With the key on - the new toggle switch would be closed for a few moments prior to turning the ignition switch to start. This would manually cause the fuel pump to pressurize the injectors and simulate the residual fuel pressure normally held in the accumulator. Good Luck, Michael ![]()
