Fuel pump problems

My fuel pump went out on my 1980 Shark, so I looked on ebay for a pump, They had over 300 listing. I bought one from TRE performance Inc. paid 100 shipped. Received the pump, looked great came in a nice box in a sealed plastic bag looked just like the one I removed, so I installed it. As soon as I cranked the engine it ran very very rich missing, After checking it out I discovered the The injectors sounded like I was pushing the sencer plate all the way down, they were filling the engine with gas. So the only thing I could think that was going on is the fuel pump I was sold was putting out way to much pressure. Has anyone had this problem before with an aftermarket pump, or could something else be wrong? Where Is the best place to get a pump without putting out big bucks? Any help would be great. Thanks, Steve

I don't think it's the pump....my 78 has dual pumps....I am still learning it, so I am not much help...perhaps a problem with the distributor? Are there pressure regulators on an 80? I am sure someone else will chime in shortly.....

Both of my pumps are el-cheapos from ebay, several people here are using them with good results (so far)....(I have no results yet...not a runner at the moment)

Hello and thanks, the engine was running as it should before the pump shut down, I belive the warm up regulator controls the pressures. My car only has the one pump.
Thanks, Steve
