Classic Fuchs Wheels on 928
Fuchs as seen on most pre 1990s 911s are one of my all-time favorite wheels. I'd like to install 16" fuchs on my 928 when completed finished black with a polished dish. 16 x 9 or 10" rears and 16 x 7 or 8" up front. I never see them on 928s they look great on 944s, i think.
I assume offset can be an issue, is anyone out there running them on their shark? Any pics?

I know i can put them on and find reproductions, it's more of an aesthetic question i guess. I wanted opinions as to whether it would look correct or weird to other 928 enthusiasts.
I ask because i do not recall ever seeing them on a 928. I do like phone dials too but not nearly as much. To my tastes the classic Fuchs are the best looking wheels on a Porsche.

DP Motorsport had a habit of putting Fuchs on 928s as well. Those were 15" though (335mm rear tires!!)

Offset is an issue. The 928 runs what would be called 'late offset.' Original Fuchs would stick out far too much.
Oddly enough, some very early 928 prototypes ran Fuchs. As I recall the car actually looks very good with Fuchs. Otto Fuchs, the original producer of, well, 'Fuchs' is remaking the classic 'petal' wheel (for lack of a better term - saying Fuchs Fuchs can get confusing) in original sizes and 17" and 18" late offset sizes. Fikse (in collaboration with Zuffenhaus) produces 17" Fuchs replicas in modular 3-piece forged construction, with any requested offset and width. And here is a thread I started for more replica Fuchs: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/669569-lets-catalogue-all-17-fuchs-repros.html Take care! those deep barrels on that red car look pretty bossy. but, i think i agree that they are not quite the right rim for the 928.. the 928 looks to funky and modern, and needs something like that. P dials look good, that guy on here had 18 inch prototype pdials that looked real slick.. P dials or twists, or those cayman wheels i have seen all look decent

I agree with this. Painted phone dials are a cool idea I think. Like body color matched especially in guards red. I like to see things like that. Just the idea of adding to original equipment but not completely changing it.

I don't think they look bad in the dark gray as pictured above. However, I don't they'd look right at all with the chrome or polished spokes...too old school for a 928 imo.

Agreed, I don't like wheels that are too big in diameter they overpower the 928 design, all you see are the wheels.
Fuchs do make a 928 look like a 944 at least on the red car shown .But the red 928 looks good to me minus the body work. I think i will go with a 16" BBS basket weave type next year. I don't want bigger than 16", i like the period look. Still i think real fat Fuchs in black would look great. We shall see, Thanks

I always thought phone dials were not aggressive enough looking, but they are definitely a classic and a classy wheel design.
They are also plentiful and inexpensive which is very good. I do like the reproduction phonie posted in this forum a lot.
