Any way to disable brake pad warning only?
 
I am fed up with brake pad light and warning constantly on. Someone had disconnected the blue wires at the wheels before I got it so likely take lots of work to repair. I do not need the system as I am aware of brake pad status so just want to bypass it and keep it from triggering dash and warning lights. I am meanwhile trying to troubleshoot the master cylinder pressure switches as my brake lights recently stopped working. Thank you.

to turn the system off simply connect the wires prferrably on the sensor side of the connection for all 4 wheels.
The system is like a string,
any breaks in it will trigger the warning,
if you electrically connect all of the wires then the string will be as one,

Thanks for reply and tip but I had connected them (after repairing cut wires) and it didn't make any difference so is there a way to totally disable it since I will be getting dirty working to get my brake lights back? I really don't care for the system-nuisance...

I think I will connect the wires at the master cylinder to complete the loop.

I had the same problem with my '78. After much time testing, I found there is an intermittent break somewhere in the wiring to my rear brakes (probably one of the old connectors.

I have resolved the problem for now by putting a jumper wire between the #5 and #8 connections on the "U" connector to the main electrical panel. This bypasses all the wiring to the rear sensors, but will only work if the connections to the front brake pads are okay.

(PS: I also discovered that the brake pad light will also come on if any of the circuit gets grounded. So if there is any place where the coating on the wiring is worn away and can touch ground, you will find the light coming on intermittently.)

The brake pad warning circuit goes through to connectors 19 and 20 on the black plug of the central warning unit (under the drivers foot rest). If you jumper these two connectors together, it should disable/bypass the whole brake pad warning system.

I am attempting this Jumper wire fix and have the CWU pulled open. It is difficult for me to locate the #19 and #20 wires because some receptacles are empty, etc. So with the yellow connector as reference, and counting each receptacle or square slot, where do I start the count? Opposite row from the yellow plug, or closest? And right to left? Again, Thanks!

Many months with no help or reply. Anyone ever able to bypass or disable the brake pad warning system? There is an issue somewhere in the blue wiring and I just want it disabled as I know my brake pad status and this system is really causing trouble. I was told I could place a jumper in #19 and #20 wire at the CPU but need clarification on which ones are #19 and #20 at CPU? There are several blue wires in the plug. Thank you!

Central Warning Unit - Brake Pad Loop
 
Hey 79 Dk - The two wires everyone is talking about to eliminate the brake pad warning circuit comes out of the Central Warning Unit (small silver box) located behind the side panel down near the driver's left foot. The easiest method used to fool the CWU into thinking the brake pad sensing loop is neither open or shorted to ground (worn brake pads) is to jumper the wire coming out from Pin 19SW back to the wire going in at Pin 20SW. This simulates the completed and intact external series loop that is embedded within each brake pad.

You will need a magnifying glass to see the pin numbers. Most long time owners usually feel this is one of the VERY FEW easy fixes on the 928 :)
