Bitten by the 928 ownership bug
Hi, recently bought one of my favorite all time cars, its a '78 928 stick shift with 73,000 miles on it, fell in love with them when i was a child growing up in Scotland and watched an" AC/DC Walk all over you" video featuring a 928 racing an old plane across a frozen field, thought it was the fastest coolest car in the world, still watch the video now and again on youtube. Live in Kansas now and bought the 928 as my perhaps mid life crisis car and love it. Found a sticker for Pelican Parts in with all the receipts i got with the car and that led me to this forum which has been a great asset to my 928 knowledge. Replacement parts i have bought so far have not been to bad financially and working on it on my brother in laws car lift has been fairly easy, worst thing so far to fix has been the gas tank with a leak round the internal steel filter insert that holds it in the tank. but can see over the winter doing a lot of hopefully preventative maintenance and inspection of parts and will perhaps need all the forums help and guidance to keep my sanity.

That was totally a badass video.

did you have to use any bonding agent at the tank leak, what how was the fix/miracle , as the polypropelyne is tough to attract frigging anything for a fix. thanks for any tips- fixing polyprop gas tank leaks. or did you plastic weld.
ohh ditto mpdano pics of your new ride and thats a nice story |
Congrats on your new Porsche,
I have never had problems with old cars especially Porsches. So try not to worry. If you found an example which has been maintained and if you don't abuse it, it will be very good to you. It's a Porsche after all. |
Interesting that the wheel center caps are either missing or were removed. If removed, I would think maybe it was an attempt to mollify Porsche in regards to the Porsche crest and branding. The only view of the hood shows only the hood crest as some sort of a lump and really is not recognizable. The only rear shot is a partial and the "porsche" is not shown.
Oh, and BTW, congratulations on your car. |
Chances are good that Porsche didn't want their name or mark associated with the video or band.

That video had to of been just before Bon Scott died.

Congrats! I too had a similar experience....mine is in bad shape though...post often!
