rough 85 5 spd HF SoCal $2500

Saw this on CL, looks rough, says it has a bad head (cracked), so very project, but $2500 for a 85 5 spd may tempt somebody.

I know better from knowledge I learned here - no way for me.

But one of you smart guys could do it. I am sure of that. :)

What is interesting is that now I tend to agree, and a couple years ago people would have been all over it.

Makes me think about a car I read about in CL, and decided to pass on, then happened to be the shop when it got a PPI. It needed an alternator, that was pretty much it. The seller just was articulate about how current the PM was and why it was sitting and not running.

Strikes me as about $2000 too much for a car with a trashed engine.....bad paint, interior not good, etc...transmission and drive train ?????, $500 car...and that is very sad....

Just depends on what you have and what you need. I've got spare US 85 heads, but it needs a LOT more than heads. I don't like the idea of parting it out, and I am starting to think the stupidest thing I have done is split my attention and resources between two cars.

That said after an inspection to get a better idea of what is and isn't good and or present, $1500 might be the upper limit for an offer I could imagine making, but I think that would be parting it out.

Hello.
Question.
How does a Porsche interior end up this way?

neil30076 11-05-2012 06:45 PM

Fortunately, I am leaving town, or i would have offered $500 for it, delivered to San Diego, of course :)

Sunshine, hot and dry. Porsche leather REALLY like a good gooping a couple times a year and no sunlight, or goop I guess with UV block like the modern goop tends to have.
