Late chrissie pressie from me to me :)

Recieved this bad-boy today:

Should give 20+ hp and torque...

Since my primary muffler was shot, and it costs half of a new one of those, it was an easy choice.

Quality is superb, this is the UK-made one from Richard of Ritech Systems Ltd., and is made of thick, stainless steel. Guy is a real star to do business with, super quick.

Cant wait to fit it!

Owning a 928 is risky business - but sometimes you just gotta say "what the fudge".

Very NICE! That is a piece of art. I think you will like it a lot.

I have a US made one on my 89 auto. It allows me to drop the bell housing WITHOUT removing the exhaust which is way cool...but yours is a 5 speed so thats really not an issue for you.

Nice

I have that one, and one from Motorsport SLC. I happened to be fitting them both a couple of days ago (was swapping exhaust bits between a couple of 928's).

The one you have is much easier to fit - literally a replacement for stock, with no fiddling around with band clamps and trying to seal gaps with glass fiber cloth.

FWIW the trick in making the X pipe make HP is in the flow of the X connection ,
if you compare this posted pipe to a Motorsport pipe you will see the difference and there is a difference.
The Motorsport pipe was developed after many trial versions to get the most HP from the engine
This required many pipes being made with different configurations and moving the X close and further from the engine.

The Motorsport pipe has a larger diameter pipe set thats why the use of the band clamps is used, If you get the aluminized glass wrap it will seal better than the plain glass Autozone has this better sealing material.

It would be interesting to see what kind of power increase this pipe makes over stock.
The Motorsport pipe makes on average about 25 more HP without cats fitted

This one promises 20 hp over stock. Richard has also made many different configurations, what really sets this apart is those bullet-like expansion chambers. They add 10hp alone. And then there is the Price - this is half of a Motorsports x-pipe in S'S for us Europeans...

My Motorsport X (with pipes, not cats) made 20rwhp more than the stock muffler on my 89 S4. My 89 is non-cat, and in stock form had the great big muffler which goes where your cats are, which unlike cats doesn't clog.

I use the DEI aluminised glass wrap, and some stepped clamps I bought (back before they were part of the kit), to fit the motorsport X - but its still a PITA compared to the Ritech one.

Dave said on RL that the Motorsport X-pipe is designed to work with their cat-back system, hence its so much larger than the stock cat-back pipes.. but it's still irritating that they don't just make tubes which neck down to easily fit the stock cat-back. They could be offered as an alternative - given my X-pipe came with tubes and cats to clamp onto it - just offer two sizes of tubes.

I don't have plans to put the Ritech one on the dyno - its going on my DD, with a smaller rear muffler (not a muffler delete), as that car has the larger resonators and the sound combo is great (its the setup I had on my old 87 - I kept it for this 87).

How much time did it take from order?
