Yeah me too it has 36 hp. It struck me as funny to own a 917 replica that did 0-60 in a half minute.

Did you guys read it at all? it's just a 914 with a crappy body kit. I would be embarrassed to even drive it. It's like being surprised the Lambo replica on a Fiero body doesn't have a v12 in it

Interesting "914" chassis with a type 1 engine hanging BEHIND the transaxle........

I grew up with 917 models, slot cars and have my own copy of LeMans on disc, it just struck me funny when i saw the photo of the spent oil soaked VW motor pushing it. It's amazing what some people will get behind the wheel of.

Loved that show.
Upon more thinking a good tube bending machine and a salvage Boxster and one could really have something fun. Have to have it painted Gulf blue and on proper finish Fuchs.

I can see the headline, "917K for $17K"

Good call. This is not a 914 either. These cars were built on a VW chassis with Type 1 engines. If they were built on a 914 chassis they would actually be fun to drive. This is a Beetle with a very unreal looking 917 body kit. One of my customers has a red one. It's stupid slow.
