928s odometer question

my 83' 928s odometer doesnt work, the speedo works and cruise control but not the odometer, is this a gear in the tranny or on the odometer itself, what is the best way to determined which end my problem is at- thanks doug

Most likely it's the gear in the speedo. It's all electric ,there's no gear in the tranny just a sensor. If the speedo is working it has all the required input, it is something internal in the speedo unit

The gear in the odometer deteriorates with age. Just get a replacement from Roger and follow Dwayne's writeup to install it. Pretty straightforward.

Yup, this will be your issue. The gear disintegrates like an old rubber band does. What's weird is that it's the only gear in there that does. Be careful when you remove the Instrument Cluster as 30 year old plastic is very brittle.
