Silly paint color question
 
i have seen several cars on this forum and several different names for different colors, (i ll say mine is maroon- since im in the land of a and m aggies- but i know this was not an option!) what is this 1983 color?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1362847841.jpg

Check sticker in driver door jamb or rear deck.

Maybe 895 Weinrot red ?

That is the German word for Ruby. Odd the site says 84 model year only. Whats the VIN? You may want to verify yaer. Would not be the first time the DMV got the model year wrong on the title.

is there a code used for the vin number for year- there was another sticker on the door jam with vin and then it looked like punched dots 06-83

found a decoder online, my vin 10 digit is a D which it looks like converts to 1983 model (followed by an S which i understand is stuttgart)

at least i know now!

Cool...you should contact the hoster of the paint site and let them know you have a 83 with that color.

Ruby Red was the color for '83-'84- changed to Garnet for '85 & '86- before that it was Wine Red which was several shades lighter.
