New alternator, different posts 1980 928
 

Hello I ordered a new alternator for my 1980 928 and the posts seem to be different. The old one had one post for both big wires and then one small one at the top, the new one has two bigger sized posts and a different type of fitting for the small one I think. I'm not sure which wires go wear.

Did you take pics of your old alternator? This is the problem when ordering online, most have year specs wrong and you have to rely on the picture of the back of your current alternator to match.

I ended up going with Advance Auto and then buying a German Voltage Regulator (Huco) to replace the chinese one that came on the Reman. Works and matches perfectly.

Looks wrong to me already. The new one doesn't seem to have the standoffs to mount your plastic cover on. This is what I was saying about you really need a site that has a pic of the back of the alternator, then you can match.
