Fuel Smell in cabin...where to start?
Hi guys,
Been awhile since my last post and have been enjoying the car more every time I drive it! But...the fuel smell in the cabin (especially when the windows are down) is starting to get annoying. The rear hatch latch was faulty and that was replaced at the end of last year, where I thought maybe that is how the odor was entering, but it definitely an issue that needs resolving! Y - pipe I think can be a culprit, but it appears that this may have been replaced by a P.O. at some point...but maybe faulty again?? The question I have is where to start!?? As always, thanks in advance for any advice! Mat

With the car idling, take a sniff at/under the right/passenger front wheel arch and report back findings.

then pull the 6" (or so) round plastic cover in the back and see if the top of the tank is moist

Keep a fire extinguisher handy (dry chem, CO2 or appropriate), the smell could be a leak in the engine compartment. Would be a shame to lose another 928.

I had the same odor 2 weeks ago. Leaking fuel line in the engine compartment.
I bought a fuel line kit from Roger, now everything is perfect! No odor, no fire! Last edited by Illini-heel; 05-25-2013 at 12:26 PM.. |
