GT Porsche Magazine/S4 Article

Just got back from Barnes & Noble, the latest issue of GT Porsche Magazine has a very good 1987 S4-Auto Article, written by an Editor that never liked the 928 until he DROVE one. Check it out

Thanks for the article, I found it interesting as well.

I know the following will sound like I'm drinking the Kool-Aid. And I know some grey beards will snicker at me, but I do believe that our cars are about to appreciate in value.

I think the rest of the world is starting to understand. Or at minimum, they will follow the trend when our cars get desirable with the "experts" and jump on the band wagon.

Case in point this article...
Another case in point: Road and Track senior editor gets 928 project car over older Ferrari in his column two months ago...
Another case in point: AJ Foyt goes on record in Panorama magazine in March saying his favorite Porsche to drive was a 928...

You could argue also that we (I won't include myself, I have not really earned it yet) know what we are doing and we are all sitting here loving these cars.

I'm going to shut up now.
Dave.

Dave I agree with you. I think it is a case of 'absence making the heart grow fonder'
right now, we shall see.

I think it will be a good while and we all have time to find another great deal on another one.

But I don't care if they do or do not appreciate because i enjoy them more because they are such a value. I almost don't want it to happen.

A lot of people in the know are saying this will happen though. It only takes one good Auction Result and a buzz is created.

I think you make a good point, post it over on RL too.

They will appreciate your positive viewpoint.

I agree, the 928 is going to go up in value. As for me I like the front look of my 86 better but I like the spoiler on the 87 over mine. I think the 86 has more of a "shark" look from the front.

Just had a guy check out my car yesterday and asked if I would sell it. I said no but asked how much would I take and I said $18,000. He said let me know if you want to sell!

I much prefer the OB without rub strips. The redesigned front and rear along with the rub strips make the car look big and heavy. My car looks smaller and more Porsche with the removal of the rubber wing and side moldings.

I do understand though that car manufacturers have to update their cars and they did a good job with the S4.

I agree that the rub strips aren't the most flattering, but let me tell you, I've see a couple of scuffs on mine. That would otherwise tell me that those would be dings if it weren't for the protection they offer. When I park my car (like many others here), I park it as far away from other cars as possible, and even then, sometimes its unavoidable, despite how protective or cautious you are (valet parking, or just some careless neanderthal who opens their minivan door when you simply don't have a choice but to park in a less than ideal spot). Those strips, as unsightly as they may be, are very useful. Thanks to the OP for the article, btw! I also agree that 928's will have their day. Get good examples while you can. The market won't be soft forever.
